Als unabhängiger Forscher mit Schwerpunkt auf bioinorganischer Chemie ist Dr. Mimouni ein anerkannter Experte für die Synthese und Charakterisierung von Makromolekülen. Er promovierte 1997 in Chemie an der Universität Paris XII, nachdem er 1993 ein Diplôme d'Études Approfondies en Systèmes Bioinorganiques an der Universität Paris XI abgeschlossen hatte, wo er auch seinen Licence und Maîtrise in Chemie erhielt.
