Dancing for Rumi
Details
Based on extensive research conducted in Turkey and around the world, this book explores the global rise of the Sufi music phenomenon, focusing on the musical and devotional activities revolving around Sufi Islam's most popular figure, the 13th-century mystic saint Mevlana Jalaleddin Rumi. It covers a vast terrain, inspired by the poetics of Sufi movement, travel, and dance to provide a dynamic journey into the political, spiritual, and aesthetic dimensions of many different types of Sufi music, from traditional to techno and from Turkish to transnational.
