DAVIDIC ROYAL PSALMODY AND PROPAGANDA
Details
Ordinary Christians, theologians and some academics worldwide, regard Royal Psalms as strictly religious hymns or songs, composed by a pious Jewish King, David. Contrary to this popular claim, this book critically interrogates the context in which the Davidic Royal Psalms were composed and concludes that after crafting the Royal Davidic Theology, in the face of fierce contest for the throne from rival groups, the beneficiaries of the Davidic throne launched a vicious propaganda campaign through Royal Psalms among other means such as total control of information production and dissemination to stiffle any contrary ideology. It is this set up, i find comparable to ZANU PF strategies in the face of MDC, where Davidic Royal Psalms are taken as similar to ZANU PF's 3rd Chimurenga songs. This book therefore, contends that, the existence of propaganda is evidence of the existence of other powerful counter ideologies. This book is a must for students of theology as well as ordinary christians and academics interested in Zimbabwean political developments since 1999.
