Debating 'Starchitecture'

Starchitecture. A concept that has proliferated popular discourse throughout the past decade whilst simultaneously retaining a sense of ambiguity. Gaining momentum since the 1990s, it is inherently contentious in its nature, and although recently coined, the notion may already be facing extinction. Exploring starchitecture, this dissertation seeks to emphasise and examine the various contestations that have ensued, using the example of Tadao Ando's Pavilion in Piccadilly Gardens as a platform upon which to consolidate surrounding theory.
