Decentralized Governance and Conflict Resolution

Reforms in governance structure are always considered as an effective tool in addressing the people's concern and aspirations. The nature of the conflict in Kashmir has changed over the years and so does the governance policies of the central Indian government. The initiation of the decentralized governance in Jammu and Kashmir was one of the manifestations of these measures. The present study will highlight the changing nature of the conflict in Kashmir and the establishment and role of Panchayati Raj institutions in resolving this conflict.
