Decentralizing Energy Generation- Can we Do Greener and Cheaper?
Details
There is little that increased our standard of living more than the access to cheap energy did. And little will be more threatening to it in the future.Perhaps the concept of mass production comes closest in wealth creation. And, perhaps mass production of decentral generation systems, like micro-cogen units, could combine their alleged ecological benefits with the low cost position of devices produced in millions of pieces? This book looks on the possibilities of decentral energy generation in three steps:First, different energy technologies are compared in cost and social impact. Limits and the limited sense of extensive research on external effects will be adressed. From then, the book will focus on natural gas, questioning: in case we really had to use it, how should we use it best? Previous analysis often mix effects on consumers, businesses and the public. Separating leads to some surprising insights. Then, game theory will be applied to analyse interests of business players in the best technologies. Last will be discussed, how governments can take advantage of those interests when designing 'judo-style policies' for reaching public good with minimal effort.
