To meet the challenges of the 21st century organization strategy needs to be more participatory and flexible. Performance and service reliability are sources of competitive advantage; most firms lack the continuity in approach leading to performance excellence. In recent years, organizations have been under significant pressure to improve their performances. The focus on performance and the delivery of facilities management portfolio requires strategy and logical measures that will ensure prompt response to uncertainty and change. Strategically planning the use of limited resources, improving performance and enhancing value is a critical requirement. The functional perspective on performance varies greatly and these give a derivative for alignment and improvement in performance. This era requires a paradigm shift in strategy and practices to have far reaching values and benefits than realized now. Greater flexibility improves performance thus providing a viable strategy to integrate and coordinates resources to sustain competitive advantage is largely significant. The workplaces need strategy that is flexible and timeless to give firms leverage for optimal performance delivery.
