Democracy in Bangladesh

Democracy in Bangladesh is passing through a very crucial stage of evolving. Democracy is for the people and by the people. Human rights are integral components of democracy. Freedom of speech and freedom of association are the hall marks of democracy. Vandalizing democratic institutions like election commission(EC) and the judiciary is a ongoing random phenomenon in Bangladesh since decade. Extrajudicial policy actions and political behavior of the law enforcing authorities are the main hindrance to civil democratic rights of the citizens. A free and fair election is a far dream. A fair judicial justice is at a distant away. Unwanted restriction of the freedom of press and electronic medias is detrimental to the protection of individual rights.
