Dentin Bonding Agent

Dentine adhesive systems have created a new era in the field of dentistry. Owing to its property of adherence to the tooth structure by both micromechanical and chemical means, if finds a wide range of application in various fields. It has lead to the most desired forms of treatment needs, which is the conservation and esthetics of tooth. Dental adhesives are used for a wide range of clinical applications. Careful consideration of several factors is essential in selecting the bonding procedure and adhesive system for the vital dentine, in order to combine longevity of the restoration, lack of secondary caries and of pulp damage not only due to eluted monomers but also due to bacteria and their products penetrating developing gaps between material and cavity walls. The dental literature supports the use of tooth bonding adhesives, when used according to the manufacturer's instructions unique for each product, as being effective in primary and permanent teeth in enhancing retention, minimizing microleakage, and reducing sensitivity.
