Design of a nozzle used in AJM
Details
In recent advancement of machining processes, there are many are available for better outcome. Among all the available, AJM is one of the better non-conventional machining processes, which has been utilized in many industrial applications. The machining process operates at relatively high pressure and focused stream of abrasive particles carried by high pressure water is made to impinge on the work material is removed by erosion by high velocity Abrasive particles. In abrasive water suspension jet machining process pure/tap water is used and for abrasive particles like sand, glass beads, Aluminum oxide, and silicon carbide is generally used. Here in this book, the nozzle shapes were changed and verified using CFD analysis, the output pressure and velocity flow through output were increased, as there will be a increase in the stress, hence those conditions were verified. As if the stress increases, the limits were kept to not to exceed. The models were designed in the CATIA and CFD initially with different assumptions and then analysis is made using ANSYS software. Finally a comparison is presented with different parameters of study at the end.
