Design of Grouted Bolts for Rock Tunnels Emphasis on Poor Rock Masses

This book is intended to provide a methodology for the design of grouted bolts, based on empirical and analytical methods. The main objectives of this book are to offer the practical means for better characterization of poor to very poor rock masses based on Geological Strength Index (GSI), to better predict support pressure, and to develop an elasto- plastic analytical model for design of grouted bolts in tunnels excavated in such rock masses. The book is thus aimed at mining engineers, civil engineers and geological engineers. It is hoped, too, that this book will provide an emphasis on integrated design methods (empirical and analytical methods).

Reza.R.Osgoui holds a PhD in rock mechanics from Middle East Technical University of Turkey and a MSc in tunnelling from the Technical University of Turin. He is now a senior engineer in GEODATA, a geo-engineering consulting company in Italy. His activities summarized in conventional and TBM tunnelling.
