In today's rapidly changing customer driven market, the key for any business success is fundamentally dependent on how you manage bottom line despite working on growth in top line. Even for actions in top line growth has to be fuelled by very meticulous bottom line control. At Emerson Climate Tech, management has taken up very aggressive program of re-engineering its operations structure to eliminate all NVA activities & operational wastes. The business case taken as a challenge for dissertation is - Emerson Climate Technologies (ECT) having its body machining facility at 3 different locations. These facilities were handling 5 different models varieties. ECT management decided to get an integrated facility which can cater all the model varieties and their respective demand in a very productive way. This was aimed for a substantial savings in Head count (HC) deployed, savings in Power & fuel, savings in transportation cost and improvement in throughput time. The challenge of dissertation is to design an ideal operational set up (Machinery Layout, Plan for HC, Material handling methods etc) using various tools including layout simulation software.
