Designing an inexpensive sports car for the South African context

This paper describes my thoughts on the need for an affordable sports car in South Africa. The content also relates to many other countries where illegal street racing takes place and a responsible design solution is needed. The design of a mid engine sports car is the result of my research and is a proposed solution that will take the first step in the direction for responsible and safe racing. The sports car's design is based on the most popular and accepted systems; i.e. double wishbone suspension, mid engine configuration, lightweight chassis. The paper describes all the elements and aspects one needs to look at to design an affordable sports car.
