Determinants of Incompetent Successors in the Family-Owned Businesses

I am delighted to contribute the Foreword to this outstanding Handbook on Determinants of Selecting Incompetent Successors in the Family-Owned Businesses. Having devoted my academic career to the field of entrepreneurship and marketing, it is my dedication to observe that the family-owned business topic is substantially gaining increasing momentum. The growing number of rigorous research on family-owned businesses such as business succession is promising, and now, academia is taking into account the fact that family enterprises are dominant around the world and thus needing more treatment from different angles. The topic of family is prominent with several disciplines such as family-owned business features, systems, culture, child psychology, ethics, finance, tax, and organizational behavior, and family-owned business succession. The study of family-owned business succession is very challenging with many interdisciplinary perspectives including basics of business succession, conflicts of interest, business transition, the founders and successors, and succession planning. This handbook explores the Factors for Selecting Incompetent Successors in Family-Owned Manufacturing Firms.
