DETERMINANTS OF MEMBERS SAVING BEHAVIOR IN RURAL SAVING AND CREDIT COOPERATIVES (THE CASE OF YELEMANA DENSA WOREDA)

The Main aim of this study is to investigate the determinants of members saving behavior in rural saving and credit cooperatives in Yelemana denessa, West Gojjam zone of Amhara national regional state. Saving is a key component in any development and it is believed to be the certain way of increasing income and enables members to reduce poverty. The study has three Specific objectives, which are assessing and investigating the saving behavior of clients in terms of demographic characteristics, determining socio-economic factors influencing savings member's behavior of rural saving and credit cooperatives and examining the changing pattern of members saving behavior of rural saving and credit cooperatives. The variables that influence of members' saving behavior considered in this thesis were eleven:sex, age, educational status, marital status family size, security, conveniences, seniority, amount of loan, source of annual income, and interest rate of saving, were analyzed. In this study, a total randomly selected sample of 120 members, cooperative experts, board, and committee members were consider to study. Both primary and secondary data were collect and used.
