Determinants of Overweight/Obesity among Adolescents

Although adolescents face serious nutritional problems they were remain largely neglected age group because they were considered to be less vulnerable to disease than the young children or the very old, and difficult-to-measure due to rapid changes in growth and development and a lack of consensus over which definition to use. Consequently, their needs are often ignored. Assessing the nutritional status of adolescents is important as it would provide data that may help in prevention, intervention and rehabilitation programs.

Mr. Yoseph Gebreyohannes is a researcher at the Ethiopian Public Health Institute(EPHI). Yoseph was born in Adigrat and completed high school in his home town. He received BSc degree in Nursing from Haromaya University in 2007 and Master of Public Health(MPH) from Addis Ababa University in 2011.
