Determinants of Resource-Use Efficiency of Smallholder Rice Farmers

The findings of this study would x-ray the determinants of resource-use efficiency and make useful information available to rice farmers, extension agents, students, researchers, financial institutions, industrialists, rural development experts, and government policy planners. The findings of this study would guide farmers on the best way to allocate their productive resources to enhance their income. The farmers would also be aware of the factors that could ensure efficient use of resources. It would also provide useful information to rice farmers not only in the state but in other states as well and then aid extension agents to guide farmers on level of inputs combination that would ensure optimum use of resources that would translate to optimum profit. The result of the findings would also arm researchers with reliable information regarding rice production in Ebonyi State as well other states so that more varieties of rice could be made available through research. It would also guide financial institutions to know whether to grant loan to rice farmers in the state or not. The findings could also aid industrialists to know whether to invest in rice production in the area.

The author, Utobo Oliver, a native of Inyima Amuzu in Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Nigeria, was born 12.11.1984 to the family of Mr and Mrs Utobo Sylvanus.
