Developing a health information system

Healthcare institutions have made significant strides in utilizing health information systems (HIS) to transform medical record storage and management. This advancement has led to enhanced healthcare services, reduced medical errors, and the replacement of traditional paper-based methods with convenient digital data storage. At CIU campus, a two-step research methodology was employed to investigate the adoption of HIS platforms. Initially, a questionnaire was administered to students to gauge their intentions to use HIS platforms. Subsequently, the Student Health Information System (SHIS) application was developed to electronically store patient information. SHIS offers various functionalities to facilitate patient-doctor interactions, such as appointment scheduling and modification, secure storage of treatment details, and online inquiry submission. In conclusion, the evolution of health information systems has greatly benefited healthcare institutions by improving record management, ensuring high-quality care, and minimizing medical errors.
