Developing and Delivering Practice-based Interprofessional Education
Details
This book presents a study of interprofessional education within a health care setting. It explores the processes and outcomes related to the development and delivery of a practice-based interprofessional education initiative based in the UK. The study focuses on the collaborative activities of a steering group in developing this initiative and the experiences of students and facilitators who participated in a pilot version of the initiative. Findings from the study indicated that while a number of successes were achieved in the development and delivery of this interprofessional initiative, a range of internal and external challenges were also encountered. Four interlinked factors - enthusiasm, backstage work, negotiation and group development - emerged from the study as key in understanding the development and delivery of this interprofessional initiative. The book goes on to offer a series of recommendations for the successful development and delivery of interprofessional education across a range of health care settings.
