Development and Application of Occupational Health and Safety Benchmarking Tool
Details
The Australian aged care industry workers have the highest rates of manual handling injuries of all industries in Australia. As well, they have the greatest proportion of injuries sustained by being hit by a person. However, historically very little recognition have been paid on the occupational health and safety risks of workers in this industry. Effective design and implementation of OHS management systems has come to be recognised as an important process to address workplace injuries. This book describes the process of designing a new survey instrument, specifically designed for residential aged care services to assess and benchmark OHS management systems. The OHS Benchmarking Tool has application more broadly in aged care services in other countries as well as has been identified to have application in other industries.
