Development of a Virtual Database Module
Details
How can you translate complex information in real time from one computer language into another? In a virtual database a variety of databases form a system. For the integration of a new database with different language into the collective a logic has to translate the information. This practical work is part of the Edutella project which has the aim to create a peer-to-peer network for storing, querying, exchanging and processing any kinds of RDF metadata. The focus is on the development of a wrapper module for the Rssdb database. This wrapper provides the features for translating Edutella queries into the local language of Rssdb and for translating back the results from Rssdb. The author David Kuhn describes how this translation even works in real time efficiently. The algorithm is based on a decision tree. This tree decompiles the information piece by piece and constructs it again in the target language. The decision tree allows the process to be very fast even for information with discretionary deeply nesting. This book is interesting for developers who have to translate information from one computer language into another very fast.
