Aluminum alloys are widely used in aerospace and automobile industries due to their low density and good mechanical properties, better corrosion resistance and wear, low thermal coefficient of expansion as compared to conventional metals and alloys. The excellent mechanical properties of these materials and relatively low production cost make them a very attractive candidate for a variety of applications both from scientific and technological viewpoints. In the present investigation an attempt has been made on the study of performance characteristics of Al 6061 reinforcing with varying SiC content composite for varying process parameters. The composite is prepared by stir casting process in an electric melting furnace. The experimental study is performed varying wt % of SiC, temperature and time .The design of experiment approach was employed to acquire data in controlled way using Taguchi method. An orthogonal array and analysis of variance were employed to optimize the performance characteristics of Al 6061- SiC composite. For multi objective optimization Taguchi with Grey Relational Analysis method used for getting optimum combination. Experimental verification is carried out.
