Development of competency profiles for IT executives

The great importance of skills is highlighted by Heyse's statement that increasing competition in the future will be fought as a battle of skills (cf. Heyse 2007). In order to meet the challenges of the current economic environment, companies must find ways to deal with increasing complexity. Competence models create 'maps' of the skills a company needs, which help to reduce complexity. This paper was written in cooperation with All for One Steeb AG, a full-service IT provider specialising in SAP, in order to establish a relevant practical connection. In the course of the paper, the creation of competency profiles for consulting managers at All for One Steeb AG is reflected upon in light of the latest scientific findings on competency management.
