DEVELOPMENT OF WATERPROOFING MORTAR
Details
The lack of waterproofing causes numerous problems resulting from the premature degradation of building structures. Asphalt-based waterproofing agents applied to bucket foundations are considered expensive and inefficient. The growing interest in studying new composites has led to the development of materials with better mechanical, thermal and chemical properties. In the literature, there are still few reports of waterproofing materials that effectively prevent soil water from rising through the wall. In view of the problem presented, the aim of this work is to develop an innovative waterproofing mortar based on a polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) polymer matrix and incorporating clay minerals, as well as achieving the following properties: waterproof and resistant to compression. Thirteen formulations were developed and analyzed using fresh state tests: consistency index, apparent specific mass and incorporated air content. Twelve test specimens were made for each formulation to analyze the properties in the hardened state.
