Development of Web Portal
Details
The World Wide Web (WWW) has rapidly become the most useful means of providing Internet resources combing hypertext & hypermedia to provide a huge network of educational, governmental & commercial resources. Web based electronic databases have become important resources for education & research. India has a large educational system comprising thousands of colleges & hundreds of universities along with several institutes of higher learning & centers of excellence. The college & university libraries being the nerve centers of the higher education & learning play a vital role in support of all the activities such as teaching, research & publication. Web portals provide a single point of access to a variety of content and core services, and ideally offer a single sign-on point. Portals give you a managed online experience, and can be particularly helpful as a start and return point for those new to the web.Web portals often organize information into channels, customizable page containers where specific information or an application appears.
