Deviant Behaviors of Youth from Single-Parent Households
Details
Youth from single-parent households are generally considered to be at higher risk of dropping out of school, lower participation in labor force, and engaging in criminal activities such as drug abuse, stealing, juvenile murders etc. This study established positive correlations between the variables- Single Parent households and involvement of their youth in criminal activities. It advocates the need for all relevant stakeholders including government, religious entities, community leaders, media, and educational institutions to invest in supporting the restructuring of family life through discouraging all forms of abuse within the family and community, conducting of child audit in every community, development of counseling programs, and provision of support systems as well as facilitation of mentoring platforms.
