Diagnosis and Management of Root Fractures

Traumatic dental injuries are often unanticipated events affecting children and adults commonly causing tooth damage. Such injuries are usual combination of trauma to the peri-oral soft tissue, teeth and the supporting tissues. They are to be attended immediately to avoid serious consequences and the management involves careful examination of clinical findings and an immediately planned treatment modality in order to favour a successful outcome. The treatment of root fracture may be a painstaking job for both dentists and patients. Therefore, an evidence-based clinical approach should be followed for the successful treatment of root fractures. This book gives an insight into the same so that the clinician should have a thorough knowledge of aetiological cause of fracture, classic signs and symptoms of fracture, availability and applicability of diagnostic methods, differential diagnosis, and factors determining the prognosis, so as to arrive at an appropriate diagnosis and design a suitable treatment protocol.
