The dependence on fossil fuels for energy production has reached an alarming stage. The energy demand continues to increase with growing population. Consequently, fossil-fuel reserves are continuously draining and the world would be confronted with their extinction in near future. The burning of fossil fuels in such enormous quantities has propelled our environment to the edge of devastation. Energy resource depletion and devastation of environment have persuaded researchers to explore renewable and green resources of energy. Diffuser augmented marine current turbines are getting enormous attention due to their immense potential to increase the generated power output. Researchers around the globe are investing considerable time and financial resources in this domain. However, limited research results are available for diffuser augmented marine current turbines due to their emerging nature, start-up cost, large and costly research and development setup and proprietary issues.
