Part of the Anuak Zone, Dimma is bordered on the south by the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region, on the southwest by the Akobo River which separates it from Sudan, on the north by Gog and on the northeast by the Mezhenger Zone; the Akula or Chiarini River defines at least part of the southern border. However sources disagree over the exact boundaries of this woreda: some maps show Dimma as extending along the southern border of the Gambela Region, with differing sizes; at least one map shows Dimma as including the western third of Sheko woreda in the SNNPR. The major town in Dimma is Dimma.
