Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration

The overarching focus of this book is the link between the micro-strategies of socio-economic Reintegration and the wider macro-strategies of economic reconstruction and rehabilitation. It will examine the nature and characteristics of a gap or even contradictions between these sets of strategies and discuss the engagement of the International Financial Institutions (World Bank / International Monetary Fund) to assess whether their activities and policies widen or narrow that gap.

Marius Kahl is Desk Officer Sudan at the Bonn International Center for Conversion (BICC) and technical advisor to the Southern Sudan Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration Commission. He studied economics at the University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg and holds an M.A. in Conflict, Security and Development from King's College London.
