Discoursal Assessment of Persian Translations of Roald Dahl "Matilda"
Details
Ideology is a major issue in the field of children literature(CHLT) and sometimes it is closely associated with censorship and manipulation. Fairclough believes that ideology in discourse is encoded in the lexical, grammatical and textual items and changes in these items indicate different ideology.Any translated books may have an implicit ideology in the shape of beliefs and values of the target society. In this regard, translators fulfill a crucial role in transmitting the beliefs and values of the main society and deciding how to use lexical and grammatical choices. In this book based on the ideological preservation in the literary translation of children books, we focused on "Matilda" written by Roald Dahl's (1989) and its two Persian translations written by Alipour (2015) and Najafkhani (2015) to find out To what extent the ideological orientations of the author has been reflected in each of its Persian translations.
