Disorders of the Temporomandibular joint

The temporomandibular joint is a complex synovial joint that is frequently referred to as TMJ. There are two TMJs, one on each side, working in unison. The name TMJ is derived from the two bones which form the joint: the upper temporal bone which is part of the cranium (skull), and the lower jaw bone called the mandible. The disorders of the TMJ are highly prevalent in both genders and all age groups. The TMJ pain can vary from mild to very severe depending upon the underlying cause. It can drastically affect the patient's quality of life and needs proper management by the oral physician. This book encompasses all the valid information about the normal and abnormal conditions of the TMJ. The content of the book is written from standard literature available on TMJ and has undergone scrutiny from the subject experts. The matter is concise and diagrams are provided wherever necessary. In short, this book gives an insight into TMJ disorders and their management in a systematic manner.
