Distribution and Interpretation of PRO in Yoru ba

Previous studies on the empty category proposed various ways of accounting for the null NP in sentence. Some scholars emphasised the derivation of serial verb construction and verb infinitive phrase where they proposed that the absence of phonetic NP in the subject position of such sentences is derived through Equi-NP deletion or 'for... to complementation.' However, no adequate study on PRO has been conducted by the previous scholars in the Yoruba Language. This study therefore, makes an attempt on the study of the occurrence of PRO in certain structures other than the infinitive phrase in Yoruba. The author, in this book, discusses both the distribution and the interpretation of PRO in Yoruba. Every linguist who wants to know more bout the issue of PRO is enjoined to read this booK because most of the works on PRO have always taken examples from English to form the data. Here in this book, all the examples were taken from Yoruba a Kwa language of the Benue-Congo Phylum.
