It starts by examining the historical trends of divestiture of IOC's in Nigeria. It then states the reasons behind the divestiture attempts and examines the legal issues surrounding the divestiture of these upstream oil and gas assets in Nigeria. Reference is made to the relevant sections of the Nigerian Petroleum Act 1969 and the Petroleum (Drilling and Production) Regulation 1969. Reference is also made to the process of sale of upstream oil and gas assets, impediments to sale and transfer application requirements. Recommendation as to the way forward through comparative analysis from other countries is also discussed in this book.
