DIVINE KING

Divine kingship is an ancient and universal concept. From the earliest times, people have seen their kings as much more than political leaders: they were representatives of the gods, even incarnate deities. Whether we're talking about the Pharaoh of Egypt, King David of Israel, Chinese emperors or African kings invested with sacred power, one truth seems to permeate the ages: supreme power derives its legitimacy from the divine.This book, "Roi divin: L'autorité suprême et la grâce souveraine" (Divine King: Supreme Authority and Sovereign Grace), offers a cross-disciplinary exploration of the link between royal power and sacredness.
