Domestication of two local species for agroforestry and woodland

The overall objective of this study is to conduct phenological observations under experimental conditions of Caloncoba wilwitschii seeds in the nursery under the ecological conditions of Kikwit and its surroundings. The operational objectives are to: To establish an experimental device of Caloncoba wilwitschii seeds; To determine the germination rate of the species concerned; To produce seedlings of the species studied; To observe the growth in height and diameter; To follow the evolution of the appearance of aerial vegetative organs. Our work consisted in conducting trials of seeds and cuttings of Myrianthus arboreus in nursery under experimental conditions in the region of Kikwit and its surroundings. The observations were conducted for 5 months. The results obtained are encouraging and open the way for scientists to use the material for reforestation and afforestation of degraded lands, in order to respond to the REDD + policy. We suggest to other researchers to deepen the knowledge on other parameters that we did not address during our work.
