Dynamics of the Homestay Market in the Kumasi Metropolis of Ghana

Homestay is one of the emerging accommodation sub-sectors in Ghana. Globally, the phenomenon has been adopted by various governments to trickle the benefits of tourism to local residents. Despite its seeming virtue, academia has not yet delved into this area in Ghana. This book provides a pioneering insight into a largely ignored sub-sector in Ghana. The book begins with an introduction to tourism and the essence of accommodation in the tourism industry. Moreover, a substantial review is provided on homestay around the world and the various stakeholders in the homestay market. This book is useful for lecturers and students of tourism and hospitality. Additionally, it provides immense guide for stakeholders in the tourism industry including host communities, tourists, travel intermediaries, tourism NGOs and all government agencies charged with the mandate of promoting tourism.

Elizabeth enrolled as a Master student at the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management in 2010 at the University of Cape Coast (Ghana). She currently holds MPhil in Tourism Management. She received her Bachelor degree at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (Ghana). She lectures at the Christ Apostolic University College.
