Early Diagnosis and Genetic Map for Silkworm Viruses, Bombyx mori L
Details
Bombyx mori L.has an economic importance because of the commercial value of its silk. therefore several trails for developing the biological process and improving the qualitative and quantitative characters of silk yield took place.the infection with IFV and NPV are the important causes of silkworm morbidity in the sericulture industry.Gamma rays were used in the present study to raise the resistance of this insect against infection with pathogens causing grasserie and flacherrie diseases which are the most common diseases in Egypt.the pathogen is difficult to be detected at an early stage of infection as the discernible morphological symptoms are developed at late stages of infection.to overcome the improper and delayed diagnosis of the diseases by physical examinations, restriction mapping technique can provide an alternative technique for early and definitive diagnosis of these viral diseases.this technique will be useful for processing a large number of field samples at early developmental stages when the virus number in infected larvae is limited and control measures or rejection of the rearing lot could be recommended to save the crop from damage.
