Days after her supposed death, a woman wakes up in a crowded train compartment, her memory betraying her: She doesn't know how she got here, where she is or who. The only thing she has with her is a backpack with a letter by a mysterious Lurelia. Immediately, she knows she has to find Lurelia. She gets off at the next station and sees her name in a death note in a newspaper. But as she visits the graveyard where she is supposed to be buried to find out more about her past, everything turns out differently than expected."Echoes of Lost" is an immersive Gothic short story about death and grief while also containing paranormal elements.

Sophie R. is a writer and student from Germany, born in 2005, who has been writing since a young age. She especially enjoys fantasy novels and is currently working on her third novel which also explores the theme of grief. Her biggest dream is to get traditionally published someday to convey a message, inspire others and enable readers relate to her stories. She particularly loves writing about emotional topics. Creating sad endings is one of her favorite aspects about writing. She often draws her inspiration for her stories from traveling. Two of her most meaningful works were created during her time in Iceland, and she wrote most of this story during her stay in Denmark. That is why she chose the train as a symbol in the story and she can't wait to see where her next train ride will lead her to.
