The research entitled Ecological and Social Status of Artemisia vulgaris (A Case Study from Ambika CF of Kaski District, Nepal) aimed to assess the ecological status of Artemisia vulgaris together with its social condition.A. vulgaris is one of the important aromatic & medicinal herbs. A.vulgaris is mainly used to cure skin diseases & ulcers. It is also applied as an insecticide & pesticide. The oil from its leaves shows antibacterial & antifungal property. It is often used in green manuring & composting. The major threats against its conservation are frequent fire in dry period, pre-mature & over harvesting, unsystematic & haphazard collection, browsing & trampling by animals etc.A. vulgaris shows density of 8125 plants/ha at the study site. The relative density, relative frequency, relative ground coverage & relative abundance of this plant were found to be 17.7%, 75%, 12.3% and 15.2% respectively. Similarly, the Importance Value Index of this plant species was found to be 49.7.

Mr Rajesh Lamsal(1985) is a M.Sc.Forestry student at Institute of Forestry,POkhara,Nepal.He is a permanent resident of Parroha-5,Rupandehi.He has passed all his high school(10+2,Science) & undergraduate level(B.Sc.Forestry)with distinction.He has worked for 1 year as a Forestry officer in Community Forestry Research & Training Centre,Kathmandu.
