Details

The results concluded that the addition of half recommended dose of synthetic nitrogen fertilizers combined with inoculation by different isolates of Nostoc, Anabaena and Calothrix either alone or in different combinations compared with uninoculated treatments significantly enhanced plant growth of rice plants. Also application of biofertilizers achieved significant increase over positive control (uninoculated and received full N-dose) in some treatments and was equal to positive control in other treatments. The use of biofertilizers based on local strains of cyanobacteria shows promise to increase nitrogen use efficiency in rice.
