Ecology and Transportation

The way in which transportation shapes the living environment will influence the future of all living species and non-living things on Earth. Traffic and roads present a highly complex mechanism and although the roads are of absolute importance for the society and it's economic systems, the negative effects on the ecology can be detrimental. This book provides us with a cutting-edge quantification tool for sustainable road infrastructure or conservation planning, as well as for the analysis of environmental impacts of transportation. It has been demonstrated with an overall landscape analysis applied on the State of Brandenburg in Germany.

Slaven Rupic holds a Dipl.-Ing. in Transport Engineering and a B.Sc. in International Forest Ecosystem Management. The co-relationships between the traffic, traffic infrastructures and environment are his main focus.
