Economic Valuation of Water Resources

The development of this research project refers to the tributaries of the Taguan basin of the Tunshi Grande community, which is instituted as the only source of water supply for domestic consumption of the community, but the improper use of land for agricultural practices, causing conflicts between producers and the community by the obvious contamination, degradation and reduction of water potential; therefore, in this rural area it is necessary an economic and environmental valuation of the resource.The structure of this work is composed of three chapters, the first one refers to the state of the art, in which the background and theoretical basis of payment for services, economic value of water, water availability and tariffs are presented, and the second chapter establishes the methodological framework of the research process, in which the contingent valuation method is applied, which allows determining the change in the welfare of the community through surveys directed to the heads of household and estimating the availability of payment. The third chapter covers the results of this work.
