Grape (Vitis venifera L.) cultivation is one of the most remunerative farming enterprises in India. The area has expanded since 1991-92 at about 7 per cent and the production by 6 per cent per annum. India has the distinction of having the highest productivity in the world, but it is not an indicator of technological superiority over other producers.Maharashtra being largest grape producer (more than 80 per cent ) and one of the advanced state in agricultural production, diversified agro-climatic situations and cropping pattern, proven leadership of policy makers. An attempt has been made in this study to examine the overall resource allocation, allocative efficiency, adoption pattern of the various technologies in the cultivation of grapes and major problems in production of grapes in Maharashtra.
