"Economics of Natural Resources and the Environment"

It is a fact that higher education in much of the world has been facing a profound crisis for several years. This crisis is evidenced by the presence of continuous and dynamic social problems; structural and new; for example, poverty, unemployment, family and social violence, great inequalities, wars and conflicts, the serious environmental crisis, among others. All of this leads us to think that there are important shortcomings and inefficiencies in education systems, especially in the case of higher education, which is called upon to produce human and social capital that promotes progress and the improvement of the quality of life. Certainly, one of the greatest difficulties of the current teaching process in universities is the disconnection between the pedagogical approach, largely behaviorist, and the challenges of an increasingly complex and dynamic society. In this sense, this work makes an important contribution by proposing a new methodology in the design of the structure, development and evaluation of the subject Economics of Natural Resources and the Environment, from a competency-based, socio-formative and complex approach.

Alejandra Saravia López, economista, é pesquisadora e professora da Universidade Mayor de San Simón (UMSS) em Cochabamba-Bolívia, onde faz parte do Instituto de Estudos Sociais e Económicos (IESE). Ela é especializada em economia e meio ambiente. Possui um Mestrado em Economia pela Universidade de Tilburg (Holanda).
