Ecotourism and Community-Based Tourism

This book arose from the need to diagnose the potential and weaknesses of ecotourism and community-based tourism in the Ponta do Tubarão State Sustainable Development Reserve, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. Proposing areas with favourable conditions for the development of ecotourism activities, in line with their environmental characteristics and the wishes of the local community. It also aimed to make it possible to understand the reasons why community tourism has not been consolidated, while also considering whether the reserve is economically viable, socially just and environmentally friendly.
