Sir Edward Codrington (27 avril 1770 28 avril 1851), est un amiral britannique. Il commandait la flotte britannique lors de la bataille de Navarin. Cette victoire lui fut ensuite reprochée. Il appartenait à une riche famille depuis longtemps au service de la couronne britannique. Un de ses ancêtres, Christopher Codrington, fut gouverneur de la Barbade et fonda la bibliothèque d'All Souls College à Oxford. Edward Codrington était lieutenant à bord du Queen Charlotte, le navire amiral de Richard Howe lors de la Bataille du 13 prairial an II, au large d'Ouessant. Il reçut une médaille pour ses qualités d'artilleur. Il était capitaine de l Orion lors de la bataille de Trafalgar.
