With the advent of technology in educational context, the utilization of e-portfolios has become more common in the last decades. Many researchers investigated the role of e-portfolios in assessment area on different skills and levels. E-portfolios offer students and instructors numerous advantages over traditional means of assessment, including a means by which progress can be tracked longitudinally. Analyzing the scores obtained in this study revealed the significant effect of e-portfolio assessment on writing ability and its significant superiority over its counterpart traditional method of assessment. The results also showed that e-portfolio application had statistically significant effect on long-term retention of grammatical points and maintenance of learning. The results of this study are beneficial for both the students and the teachers. Assessment through e-portfolio provides a safe learning environment in which students involve in the process of their learning while the burden of direct teaching and assessment on the shoulder of teachers become milder.

Atiyeh Fateri (1986) is currently an MA graduated in English Language Teaching from Qom University, Iran. Her research interest is the effect of assessment methods on learning. Besides, studying English Literature, she did many researches on comparative literature in her BA. After graduation, she has published several papers related to her MA thesis.
