Effect of Probiotics on Growth and Nutrient Utilization in Pups

This is the First Pet Nutritional Work conducted at the Indian Premier Research Institute for Veterinary Science - Division of Animal Nutrition under the able guidance of Dr.Artabandu Sahoo and Dr.N.N. Pathak. This work is the pioneer work with preparation of dog biscuits and supplementing with probiotic namely Lactobacillus acidophilus to improve the gut health. The higher level of fiber on dog diet and its impact on animal performance, gut health, blood biochemicals and stool characteristics also studied.

The Author graduated from Madras Veterinary College during 1998 and got Indian Council of Agricultural Research - Junior Research Fellow Award (All India Rank 14) during 1998 and obtained his Master Degree at Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. This thesis work is the first nutritional research work initiated at IVRI.
