EFFECT OF SiC, FLY ASH IN AA6061 MMC
Details
The primary objective of this book is to make it available to students, researchers, and those who are working on case study projects. Aluminium and its alloys possess excellent properties such as low density, good plasticity, and ductility. Due to their low density and low-cost reinforcements, Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs) find extensive applications in the aeronautics, astronautics, automobiles, and high-speed train fields. The present investigation has been focused on composites made from varying compositions of SiC and fly ash in the AA 6061 alloy. The compositions studied are 2.5%, 5%, and 7.5% equal compositions of SiC and fly ash. The reliability of these compositions has been investigated using various heat treatment processes, and it has been discovered that a composite containing 5% SiC and 5% FA has the highest reliability when quenched. Corrosion and hardness are observed to be increasing with the increase in the reinforcement percentage of equal compositions of SiC and FA. Hardness is further increased with the rolling process.
